MOVING PETS TO MAURITUS: HOW IS THIS DONE?
A trip to Mauritius doesn’t just happen, it lies more than 9,000 kms away. You need to arrange the transportation of your pet well in advance to ensure this distance doesn’t become an insurmountable obstacle.

The minimum time period between the start of formalities to be carried out and your pet’s trip is at least 1.5 months.
VETERINARY PROTOCOL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STEPS ABOUT ANIMAL TRANSPORT TO MAURITUS
To prepare your pet’s trip to Mauritius, you will need to scrupulously follow the various steps and recommendations below:
- Firstly, your pet will need to have a pet passport, and be identifiable through microchip.
- Their vaccines must be up-to-date and their vaccination against rabies must date more than 30 days, but less than a year prior to departure.
- Your pet must have stayed in France for at least six months before leaving for Mauritius.
- You will need to apply for an import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture.
- You will also need to book a place in quarantine.

And finally, you’ll need to return to your vet within seven days prior to departure so that they can complete an international certificate of good health (issued as a separate document to the passport).
