ANIMAL RELOCATION TO GUATEMALA: HOW IS THIS DONE?
Is a departure to Guatemala on the cards for your four-legged friend?
There are a few rules and procedures to be followed to ensure their trip takes place under the best possible conditions.
By choosing the PREMIUM formula, we can take care of all, or some of these steps for you. These are somes procedures we can take care of :
- Transport from your home to the departure airport
- Transport from the La Aurora International Airport to the city of Guatemala City or Mixco for example
- Document control, airport tax, customs formalities for the transportation, etc.
The minimum time period between the start of formalities to be carried out and your pet’s trip to Guatemala is at least two months.
VETERINARY PROTOCOL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STEPS ABOUT PET TRANSPORT TO GUATEMALA
To ensure that your dogs, cats or other friends meet the requirements for importation into Guatemala, they will need :
- An animal passport
- A microchip
- Be vaccinated against rabies (dating more than 30 days, but less than a year)
- They must have had a rabies antibody titration done (dating more than 30 days after the vaccination, but less than a year prior to departure)
TRAVEL OF YOUR ANIMAL AS CARRY-ON OR AS HOLD BAGGAGE
The height, the weight and the destination country are the three pieces of information that determined if your animal will travel as carry-on or as hold baggage.
If he is not with you, your pet, cat or dog will automatically be in the hold in a pressurized, tempered and enlightened area for animals during the whole flight.
An IATA authorized cage is also required for you animal to travel by plane. Without an IATA cage, the access to the flight may be refused by the airline company. This type of cage allow your animal a minimum confort : your pet can turn around, lie down, and stand up.
