Veterinary Protocol and Administrative Steps Regarding Animal Transport to Madagascar
To transport live animals to Madagascar, your pet will need to have the following prior to their departure:
- A pet passport. Your vet will be able to provide you with one.
- A microchip, since most country doesn’t accept tattos anymore.
All their vaccinations must be up-to-date. The vaccine against rabies must date more than 30 days, but less than a year.
The departure date has been set, you have the permit, now you just have to get a certificate of good health from your vet issued within seven days prior to departure.
The pet passport and certificate of good health must be legalized by the Departmental Directorate for Public Protection (the “DDPP”) in your region. They will stamp the documents with their official stamp to approve them.
Once all the paperworks has been legalized by the DDPP, your loyal companion is ready to begin their new life in Madagascar!
