ANIMAL RELOCATION TO QATAR: HOW IS THIS DONE?

So, you’re leaving for Qatar, and there’s no question about imagining this relocation without your pet.

To ensure that the transportation of your pet to Qatar takes place as seamlessly as possible, you need to prepare this trip well in advance, and adhere to a specific process enabling you to import them onto Qatar soil with no problems.

The minimum time period between the start of formalities to be carried out and your pet’s trip to Qatar is at least six weeks.

VETERINARY PROTOCOL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STEPS ABOUT PET TRANSPORT TO QATAR

To take your dog and/or cat to Qatar, you will need:

• To have a pet passport,
• Ensure they are identifiable by microchip,
• To have had a rabies test. Following the results of this test, you will need to obtain an import permit from the local authorities,
• To have their vaccinations up-to-date. The vaccine against rabies must date more than 30 days, but less than a year.

Finally, you need to ask your vet to issue an international certificate of good health. This will need to be done ten days prior to departure, and issued as a separate document to the pages in the passport.

The passport and certificate of good health must be certified by the Departmental Directorate for Public Protection (the “DDPP”) in your vet’s region (in this way, they will be legalised).
