RELOCATION OF YOUR ANIMAL AS CARRY-ON OR CHECKED BAGGAGE

There is 2 ways to relocate your pet : he can fly as carry-on or he can remain as checked baggage in the hold of the plane.
Either way, the conventionalities are pretty much the same for the transportation of your animal with some details different according to the height, the weight of your pet and the destination country.
There are 2 other facts that you have to hold in mind :
The first one is that several countries do not accept the relocation of live animal with you in the plane.
The second one is that your animal must be in a International Air Transport Association recognized cage if he fly as carry-on. If not, your pet will surely be unable to enter the plane. Additionally, the cage musn’t prevent your creature from moving freely.

VETERINARY PROTOCOL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STEPS REGARDING ANIMAL TRANSPORT TO LEBANON

To transport live animals to Lebanon, your pet will need to have the following prior to their departure:

  • A pet passport. Your vet will be able to provide you one.
  • A microchip

All their vaccinations must be up-to-date. The vaccine against rabies must date more than 30 days, but less than a year. On receiving the result, an import permit application must be lodged with the Lebanon official departments.
Other vaccinations:

For dogs:

  • Canine Distemper Virus
  • Canine Parvovirus
  • Infectious Canine Hepatitis
  • Leptospirosis
  • Rabies

For cats:

  • Feline Calicivirus
  • Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV)
  • Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis
  • Rabies

The departure date has been set, you have the permit, now you just have to get a certificate of good health from your vet issued within seven days prior to departure.
The pet passport and certificate of good health must be legalized by the Departmental Directorate for Public Protection (the “DDPP”) in your region. They will stamp the documents with their official stamp to approve them.

Once all the paperwork has been legalized by the DDPP, your loyal companion is ready to begin their new life in Lebanon!
