IATA-approved cage
What is an IATA-approved cage?
ATA cages are transport cages whose characteristics meet the criteria of IATA (International Air Transport Association).
IATA (International Air Transport Association) approved cages are the only ones authorized for the transport of animals by plane, whether it is a cat or a cat. For other animal species, contact us for more details.
For the cage to be IATA approved, it must be:
- The hull of the body must be made of fiberglass or rigid plastic only.
- If the crate has wheels, they must be removed. If they are retractable, they must be blocked with adhesive tape.
- The door must have a centralized closing system which simultaneously locks the 2 closing points located at the top and bottom of the door. (has)
- Door hinges must extend at least 1.6 cm beyond the horizontal edge above and below the door. (b)
- The 2 parts of the hull must be held in place by bolts. (c)
- The crate must have 2 empty bowls attached to the screen door and accessible without opening the crate.
If you want to obtain your transport cage, it would be advisable to ask us for advice. Indeed, many pet stores or websites offer so-called IATA approved transport cages but they are often not suitable for air freight transport.
Other criteria for the comfort and safety of your animal
